What do you do when you feel like your prayers are hitting the ceiling???
Remind yourself that your feelings are not reality. God has committed himself to us by having Christ Jesus die for our sins and be raised from the dead. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love and intense care (Romans 8:28 to the end of the chapter).
Feeling arise out of the stories we are telling ourselves. What story are you telling yourself about God and/or yourself that has created these feelings?
Do you doubt God’s care for you because of circumstances?
Do you believe that God could only love you if he did not allow such circumstances?
Do you believe that you are not worthy to have your prayers answered by God?
To get rid of the feelings you have to change the “script” or “story” in your mind that is creating those feelings. Your will power cannot do that.
You can pray about the feelings as well.
You may want to try this for 15 minutes
Say to yourself six times out loud
Jesus cares for me.
Sit quietly for one minute
Say to yourself six times out loud
Jesus is in this room with me
Sit quietly for one minute
Read the following passages out loud six times
“Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
Our High Priest is not one who cannot feel sympathy for our weaknesses. On the contrary, we have a High Priest who was tempted in every way that we are, but did not sin. Let us have confidence, then, and approach God’s throne, where there is grace. There we will receive mercy and find grace to help us just when we need it.
(Hebrews 4:15-16)
Ask the Lord Jesus to help your feelings to feel the reality of HIS presence, peace and power.
Sit quietly for one minute
Sing a song of praise
Then pray
See if this helps.
For what it’s worth, I’ll put my 2 cents in. Doing an electric poll, I don’t think would reeval the true feelings of most people out there, including Christians. Since many of the earths catastrophies happen many miles from us, if not the other side of earth, most people don’t make the connection that it has anything to do with God trying to get our attention. The author of confusion makes sure that we see those nature channels and hear what the preacher, that’s in everyone’s home has to say about how this world evolved over BILLIONS of years, and the rock and roll that will continue as part of the natural time. What I’m trying to say, is that most of the world, specifically, the Christians of the Good O’l USA, are to focused on the here and now; paying the rent, checking out the newest cars, phones, etc., to worry about God knocking at the door. I really don’t feel those people are worthy of hell because they’re trying to make a life for themselves. But, that’s a whole nother subject. Oh, well
