Learning How To Handle Loss

Job 5:11 NASB – “11 So that He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety.”

Ecclesiastes 3:4 NASB – “4 A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance.”

It is appointed by God for every human being to die. When that happens those who loved that person or related that person are impacted and changed. Death comes and shatters our “normal” lifestyles and demands from us to adjust to a radical interruption in our lives. It also reminds us that we are not in control and how very limited our ability and power is over life.

People will naturally mourn. It is just human to grieve the loss of loved ones or people who held a position in our lives in which we had expected to be loved by them. So why are you having a seminar on mourning?

We have a seminar on this topic because, there are better and worst ways to mourn. Some of our normal ways of mourning can be destructive and cause us more pain instead of process the pain of our loss. Many Christian believe that because they believe they should not mourn.

I went to a funeral of a friend and mentor and he actually left a video telling everyone not to cry because he was in heaven. Needless to say many ignored his recommendation. The fact is that clearly if Jesus cried at the tomb of Lazarus this clearly points out there is a time to mourn. Yet, many Christians struggle with this truth.

Dr. Norman Wise is not only a person who has studied the process of grieving but who has lost many family members and friends. Most recently, his beloved wife of 37 years passed away to be with the Lord. So because of this he has decided to review and share the process of developing your own personalized approach to dealing with the death of a loved one.

The mourning process can last for years. We may have lost someone and not allowed ourselves to mourn at the time. Perhaps we know the way we handled the loss was not wise. This seminar is designed to help you prayerfully and carefully find your personalized process of dealing with the loss of significant person in your life.

As always the “Learning How Seminars” are free and open to the public. There will be a free will offering taken to help cover expenses.
