Over 50% of the population of the United States is single, 35% have never been married, and these percentages are three to four times what they were in 1970. All of these statistics are now further confused because we no longer simply have married or single people but a whole group of people who are “partnered” (living together) but not married.
It would appear that at the present time in the United States and worldwide there are more single people than ever before in world history. The number of people actually getting married is declining in many nations around the world.
So as disciples of Christ and being single how are ought we do live? How does following Immanuel Jesus make us different than other people who are single in our society? How do I be a “successful single” in a world where singleness is becoming the “new normal”? How should I look at marriage as a single person who wants God’s will in my life?
